Accept Credit Cards With Your Blackberry

Blackberry BoldIrish technology firm Commercial Wireless with its UK partner Tracktech, will be offering BlackBerry® users the opportunity to utilize leading-edge payment technology, the eMerit solution, via their BlackBerry device. Derek McDonald, CEO, Commercial Wireless, shares “We have built our reputation over the years as a distributor of mobile devices, and are now expanding into the area of mobile payment applications.”

The eMerit solution is the first smartphone related offering to receive accreditation via the MasterCard Point of Sale Terminal Security program. The MasterCard program is a challenging, laboratory-based, accreditation program normally used to test standard credit-card data-processing machines.

A direct sales strategy for the solution is in place internally and will soon be joined by an appealing incentive scheme for resellers, distributors, IT partners, services providers and dealers.

Commercial Wireless managing director Michael Moriarty indicates that the solution will be introduced in the Irish market by next spring. “We believe that eMerit will be of significant value to businesses in Ireland and the UK. It can be made available to single users or large corporate enterprises. Also, a unique application can be added to allow calculation of payments against specific products or services”.

Early in 2008 Commercial Wireless secured a majority shareholding in Tracktech, as part of its plan to increase operations in the UK. The testing and commercialization of the eMerit solution is the pilot initiative of the partnership.
